Profile of Baba

The moment you hear that there is a recluse or a sannyasi somewhere around, you would have got an immediate visualization of a man in saffron robes with a resigned look in his eyes, his hands forever lifted in blessing, with rosary beads in one hand, chanting some mantras that you have probably never heard before.

If this is the image that you have, dear friends, you are in for the most pleasant of surprises when you meet Siva Shankar Baba, who holds the promise of the glorious awakening predicted at the turn of the century. He is clad in a very simple, casual pajama kurta ensemble; with a compassionate, sunny twinkle in his eyes; a winsome smile that speaks of a love that encompasses the entire world; winning over everyone who meets him, with his naturalness and a direct candid approach to life. He is highly approachable and easily fits the bill of that friend of yours you had long ago, who was always there with a caring ear and tender ways, who specialized in the art of making you live life the way it should be. All of us are in desperate need of friends in the true sense of the term, in today’s cruel world. There he is – Baba, the friend who can patiently listen to everything you say and suggest you ways of overcoming your dejection in a convincing way.

Baba believes in simple living and high thinking. His mission is to make everyone understand that God exists within each one of us. The methodology that he adopts to fulfill his mission is that sets him apart from every other saint gone before, Most other saints one has seen will keep himself at a distance, inspiring awe in the onlooker, there are many of them out there who accept a lot of donations.

The first thing that Baba has done to break the mould is to render himself approachable. Anyone who wishes to, can speak to him on a personal basis, clarify doubts, whatever may be the nature of the doubt and he gives clarifications in a clear, logical, easily understandable manner; much to the relief of the seeker who has so long been used to hearing clarifications that only confuse him more because of the way in which they have been made.

What makes one feel very comfortable with Baba apart from his friendly approach, is the fact that he simply does not care for gender differences, caste, creed, religion or materialistic position. He treats all people as individuals in their own rights, accepts them as they are, with their many flaws and fallacies. This is a major reason why so many people around the world throng to meet him, many of them taking off from work to spend the new year with him, for, it is a remarkable breakthrough from the orthodoxy saints that they have been to before.

Baba through his institution “Samratchana” offers a limitless host of social service activities, absolutely free of cost. Free food distribution, free educational courses in various fields with placement assistance, remove pains of hunger and lack of education; and placement assistance helps in overcoming problems of lack of funds, an easy way to help people realize their selves – that their self is what is called God.

An important aspect of Baba’s activities is the counseling session where he walks down personally to each one of the people assembled, listens to the latter’s problems, offering guidance, moral support and boosting up morale’s with his tender words of blessing. People have their wedding anniversaries/birthdays celebrated here with songs sung from them and they receive honour from Baba.

Baba is highly principled person. He does not accept donations. The Ashram runs its activities with the funds generated through the sale proceeds of magazines and books from Baba’s spiritual centre for self realization ‘Samratchana’. The major resource as Baba puts it, his human resource. In Samratchana, the instructors for the various courses are devotees of Baba themselves who have volunteered their services to Baba’s noble mission. These volunteers utilize their leisure time with the definite purpose of following Baba’s footsteps sharing the knowledge they have specialized in with the students who want to acquire this knowledge. Like the famous song goes - Oh what joy, what peace, what contentment if we share all the things we have. No wonder there is so much joy, peace and contentment in Samratchana.

Baba has performed various divine miracles. He has cured a lot of ailments by the mere touch of his hand. He has revealed many divine forms in the flames of Harathi/Homam fire. He has the ability to make astral travels and solve the problems of devotees in need. He is an embodiment of “Satchitanandam” - the everlasting bliss.

Indeed for so many people, meeting Baba is the best thing that has happened in their lives, for their lives have acquired a new meaning, depth and dimension.

Biography of Siddha Yogi Sri Siva Shankar Baba

Sri Siva Shankar ( later titled ‘Baba’ by Yogi Ram Surat Kumar Swamigal ) was born on the 28th January 1949, to the blessed couple of Shri Narayana Sharma and Smt. Vijayalakshmi, in a small village called Aalangayam, near Vaaniyampadi in the North Arcot district of Tamil Nadu, India.

Siva Shankar led a very successful business life and by God’s grace enjoyed all comforts and benefits before sacrificing them for sake of spirituality and guiding the people in the right path. Graduated in Chemistry from Madras University, he has to his credit three post-graduate qualifications in Transport Management from the Chartered Institute of Transport( UK), the Indian Institute of Road Transport( Pune) and from the Institute of Rail Transport( New Delhi).

His qualifications and experience in transport management gained him the recognition and was elevated to become the president of Madras Goods Transport Association, managing committee member of Andhra Chamber of Commerce, AIMTC, IRTDA, Jakarta Institute of Transport and Traffic Engineers, FICCI and several other elite organizations.

Siva Shankar’s excellence in oration and a quest for perfection (which obviously is still a part of him) saw him hold various key positions. He was in the committee for chalking out the syllabus, for management courses in Anna University. He was the editor of Transport journal ‘Trans-Reporter’, ‘Transport News’ and correspondent for the magazine ‘Road Carrier’ and ‘Road Transport’ published from Bombay and New Delhi, respectively.

He has also written few books on Transport Management and was in the panel for valuing Ph.D papers in Baroda University.

For five years from 1978, Siva Shankar was a transport fleet owner, transport contractor and redistribution stockist for various products manufactured by renowned companies like Geoffrey Manners, Detergents India and Mysore Sales International. He was also the owner of a public warehouse, produced documentary commercials and Founder Director of Madras Institute of Transport Technology and was a management faculty in A.M.Jain Institute of Management, Chennai.

Siva Shankar becomes Baba!

Sri Siva Shankar had spiritual inclinations even as a young boy. His contact with Ratnagiri Bala Murugan Adimai Swamigal of Vellore in 1968 awakened his internal divinity and drew him closer to spirituality. Siva Shankar had an idol of Sri Ayyappa at his residence in AnnaNagar, Chennai and would spend hours together worshipping the idol. Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal of Kanchipuram was so much impressed by the divinity emanating from the idol and motivated Siva Shankar to construct a temple for Sri Ayyappa.

January 26, 1984, marked the turning point in Siva Shankar’s life. During the yearly Abhishekam performed to Lord Murugan of Ratnagiri Temple, he was unable to control the tears flowing incessantly from his eyes. Ratnagiri Swamigal wrote in a piece of paper “ Siva Shankar, within this month, there will be a welcome turning point in your life “.

On the same day, much before dawn, Swami Raghavendra of Mantralaya appeared physically before Siva Shankar and gave him the vision of his own dead body, by separating the body from the soul. The experience he attained was similar to what Bala Ramana Maharishi had as Venkataraman which propelled him to spiritual heights. After this extraordinary experience, Siva Shankar lost interest in the worldly pursuits and started working towards self realization.

That Siva Shankar was destined to receive Ashta Maha Siddhis, was confirmed by the vision he has of Lord Muruga in the form of a snake which vanished to become a seer with a Golden face and said “For every full moon, Rupees Eight, Eleven Full Moons, Swaminatha Venkateswara, Swaminatha Venkateswara, Swaminatha Venkateswara “. In Siddhas’ language, eight rupees mean Astha Maha Siddhis. Siva Shankar was to attain the Ashta Maha Siddhis within eleven full moon days, with the mantras of Sadakshara (Swaminatha) and Ashtakshara (Venkateswara). Following this, Siva Shankar, went to Thiruvannamalai for every full moon and started receiving various siddhis as was ordained by Him. The blessings from Yogi Ram Surat Kumar of Thiruvannamalai ( who also labelled him ‘Baba’ ) and the mantras of Rama and Govinda helped him to continue his sadhana, inspite of all the hurdles, tests and turmoil’s even though his business collapsed after eleven full moon days in November 1984.

During Guru Purnimas of 1984, Siva Shankar was blessed by Yogi Ram Surat Kumar, God Child of Thiruvannamalai. Yogi Ramji gave the mantras of Rama and Govinda to Siva Shankar and blessed him.

In the year of 1986, when Baba was continuously fasting at Thiruvannamalai, Lord Skanda appeared before him and instructed him to carry out the mission of uplifting humanity to the ultimate truth. It was Lord Skanda who instructed him not to wear the robes of sanyasi and not to accept anything in return for the services he renders to the society and the people and also not to renounce his worldly life. His spiritual life has no end and Baba as the divine light continues through the ages granting repose to distressed souls.

Baba has traveled to various pilgrim centers all over India, including Kedarnath, Badrinath, Vaishnodevi, Amarnath, Mt.Kailash and Manasarovar. He has participated in the Kumbha Mela twice at Haridwar. He has visited various forests and has undergone austere penances, particularly to Mahendragiri, Vallimalai, Parvatamalai, Srisailam, Mahanambi Ahobilam, Nambi hills, Podigai malai, Sabari malai, Thiruvannamalai, Thirumala, etc.

He has undertaken, so far, the holy pilgrimage to Mount Kailash and Manasarovar (20,000 ft high & situated at Tibet-China), nine times by foot and performed the outer parikrama. Also, he has performed the Inner Parikrama once in 1998. ( The Inner Parikrama is a very dangerous one in terms of the travel to be undertaken and it is believed in Tibet that only those who have done 12 outer parikramas and one adithandam parikrama are eligible to undertake the inner parikrama ).

Nadi Predictions, are the most ancient method of predictions done by great saints (like Vashishtaa, Vishwaamitra, SukaBrahmaa, Agasthyaa etc), who could foresee the future, of each and every soul that comes down to this earth, to the minutest detail. These predictions were written on palm manuscripts and have been preserved over generations. The scripts are written in "Grantham".

The basis of these predictions is the thumbprint of the individual (which we all know is unique). On producing a copy of an individual's thumbprint, a Naadi astrologer matches the individual's thumbprint with that of the palm manuscript and translates the matter to the concerned individual.

Given below are the translations of some of the predictions made in the Naadi's on Sri Sivashankar Baba.

Vishwamitra Naadi

"He is the son of God sent by God himself to show the righteous path to the suffering humanity. He is Narayana Para Brahmam. Lord Harihara is living in him. Mother Parvati is giving him all her Siddhis and he is the embodiment of total Gnana. He is a Trikala Gnani who knows the past karmas of any soul and can give solutions to ward off such karmas.

There is no post in this whole world equivalent to your merits and penance. He will accept the karma of others, but he has been given a special boon by the Lord himself that people's karmas will not affect him. He will be able to give boons to any person who trusts him. For some people he is a business adviser, for some an astrologer or soothsayer, for some, a good friend giving consolation to face life's problems, but nobody on this earth knows who he really is. He is not a Guru, but he is God himself in a human body. With just a touch of his hand, he can remove the karma of any person, who comes into contact with him. By the power of past penance, he will get people's prayers get fulfilled by God instantly."

Kaaka Bujendar Naadi

"As a result of His Purva Punya, Lord Vishnu has come to stay in his body. He is a very powerful force and a combination of all the divinity in one form. Like the light he will spread throughout the world. He will manifest into a divine form. He will be filled with a divine ecstasy all the time. He will be the total embodiment of Lord Venkateswara of Tirumala Himself ."

Paraasara Rishi Naadi

"He has attained the highest post in God's kingdom which even great Rishis and Yogis cannot aspire for. He has all the Siddhis but he does not need any Sanyasa Ashrama. He will enjoy the combined powers of Shiva and Shakthi. He will be wandering in the forests because of his past birth connections and will attain supernatural powers. His whole life will be dedicated for divine causes. He will always be in the company of Sadhus, Siddhas and Yogis. The whole world will respect him as a Dharmathma."

Agasthya Naadi

"In one of his previous births, he was born at Kaaladi as Adi Shankara."

Sahaadeva Naadi

"It is said that he is the combination of Siva, Shakthi and Vishnu. Mother Parasakthi will bless him with both materialistic and spiritual happiness. He will have cosmic contacts. He has attained Satchitananda level. The divinity which is living in him is that of Narayana and because he has come to sacrifice his life in the service of God, Lord Thyagaraja is also equally residing in him."

Vashishta Naadi

"He was born with the blessing of Lord Ayyappa. He will have absolute divine grace throughout His life."

Meenaakshi Ganapathi Naadi

"He was a great Rishi in the previous births and he was doing penance at the Mahendragiri forests. In one of his previous births he was Adi Shankaracharya."

Deiva Seyal Puram Naadi

"He is having the power of Maheshwara. Lord Ayyappa will enter into his body. Saraswathi Matha will bless him with total enlightenment. The light of Lord Balaji is in him."

Suka Brahma Naadi

"He is a Self-realized person. He is the embodiment of enlightenment. He has no further births. He has got an enlightenment, which nobody has got so far. He has the power of both Shiva and Narayana."

Suka Brahma Naadi - (Achirappakkam)

"He will be able to give life power to stone idols in temples. He has the unique power of supreme control over the mind, doing making things happen by the sheer power of will, granting any boon to anyone - this power is manifest only in one out of one crore Siddhas. He has absolutely no desire. He has invincible clarity of mind. He is well versed in the 4 Vedas, 18 Puranas, 6 Sasthras, 64 Arts and 96 Thathuvas (philosophies). He will perform daily homam and reveal divine forms in fire. All the Siddhas, Deities, Azhwars and Nayanmars will assemble everyday in his institution to pay their respects to him. He will vibrate his body and dance in the form invoked by the devotional songs - he will dance as Kali for a song on Kali, as Shiva for a song on Shiva and so on. He will establish the fact that all the five elements exist as God within oneself and there is no duality. He does not seek anything for himself but works selflessly for others."

Various prophecies and predictions that have been made by many ancient and contemporary seers, including the most famous seers of all times, Nostradamus, augur the arrival of a Messiah by the approaching millennium, who shall reform the world and bring back peace to the earth.

It is worthy of note that these prophecies/predictions exactly relate to Baba and it will gradually dawn upon the reader that Baba is verily the same Messiah that all these prophecies talk about and for whom the World waited eagerly.

Nostradamus Predictions - First Published in 1994, USA by Element Books INC, P.O.Box 830, Rock Port, MA 01966.

The predictions of Nostradamus as portrayed in the book ‘The New Revelations’ By John Hogue depict how closely they relate to Baba.

Nostradamus mentions the following points in his predictions while indicating the person who will bring about this new religious consciousness.

1. The Great King will descend from the Sky to rule the world. This messiah will bring peace on earth in the year 2002. (Chapter 15 – C.9, Q.66)

2. He will bestow benign enlightenment to the people of the world. (Chapter 15 – C2, Q.29)

3. He will unite the Faiths, Religions and Races into One. (Chapter 15 – C.9, Q.51)

Baba is successfully uniting religions. People flock to Samratchana disregarding differences of caste, creed, religion or age. And it is a wonderful sight to see ladies belonging to Christianity or Islam by birth, enthusiastically participating
in the Lalitha Sahasranama Pooja.

4. He will strike out old traditional rock-like dogmas with his spiritual teachings. (Chapter 15 – C.1, Q.96)

People who are in regular touch with Samratchana activities appreciate the practical philosophy of Baba that instills love for God devoid of fanaticism. Baba has conducted widow remarriages and intercaste marriages when people have expressed a desire to do so, striking at the root of age old dogmas.

5. He will preach a unique historical phenomenon in the lines of a ‘New Age Movement’ or ‘Human Potential’ wherein; every individual strives to awaken his latent Spiritual Potential to realize the higher consciousness, which is well within himself.

Baba advocates that everyone is God, and it is these realizations that will make people realize the immensity of their potential.

6. The coming millennium (Year 2000) is the culmination of a 7000 year cycle. At this time, a Maitraiya, meaning friend, will appear to restore the momentum and power to all those seeking religious truth. (Chapter 15 – C.4, Q.24)

As per various Naadi predictions, the divine light Baba appears only once in 7000 years! The loving care of the Universal Friend – Baba is revealed by the numerous free services in Samratchana, Kelambakkam and Vengaleri as an effort to elevate the living conditions of people and gradually turn their thoughts to God.

7. “The sculptor looking for new clay. He and his followers will be soaked in Gold” – are meaning that, the immortal spiritual teacher will assure spiritual enlightenment to all of his followers. He will mould them, as a sculptor moulds clay into divine forms.
(Chapter 15 – C.9, Q.12)

This is proved by the qualities of hundreds of youth volunteers and other devotees who gain joy from service to humanity.

While speaking about the new religious consciousness that this messiah will bring about, Nostradamus predicts the following:

1. There will be a shift in Humanity’s consciousness to such an extent that even atheists would call upon Gods and saints. (Chapter 15 – C.9, Q.83)

So many atheists have turned into believers motivated by Baba’s pure love and the miracles that he has worked for them.

2. This new religion shall spread the world over. It teaches a new acceptance of life – A kind of magic used as a launch pad to an experience of the divine. This suggests a concept of complete surrender to belief. (Chapter 15 – C.5, Q.96)

Baba inspires us to accept whatever life has in store for us, and thus realizing ourselves by living life to the fullest.

3. The millennium will bring blissful tranquility and peace and wisdom. (Chapter 15 – C.9, Q.66)

4. Equilibrium between the opposites of Science and religion will be reached. (Chapter 15 – C.6, Q.24)

It is observed that Science is in accordance with and submits to the revelations of Baba.

Nostradamus lists down some major clues to the character of the ‘New Religion’, its teachings and to the identification of the ‘New Spiritual Teacher’.

1. Nostradamus dates the rebirth of spirituality and a new religion at around 1984. (Chapter 13)
Sri Siva Shankar Baba attained Self-Realization on January 26th 1984.

2. This religious consciousness will gather momentum and reach its peak by the year 2012. The Humanity’s travail will finally end in the year 2016. (Chapter 13)

In his various speeches, Sri Siva Shankar Baba has authoritatively stated that the golden age of Humanity shall start in the year 2002 and shall continue through 2016 and beyond.

3. The person who brings this massive change will appear in Asia. (Chapter 15 – C.10, Q.75)

Needless to say, Sri Siva Shankar Baba appeared in India, a part of Asia.

4. He will be born around the year 1950. (Chapter 15 – C.4, Q.50)

Sri Siva Shankar Baba was born in 1949.

5. He will take the Moon’s day i.e. Monday, as his day of silent rest. (Chapter 15 – C.2, Q.28)

The headquarters of Sri Siva Shankar Baba, Samratchana (The Centre for Self Realization) had its weekly holiday on Monday.

6. He will have a name related to the moon.
(Chapter 15 – C.2, Q.28)

The name Siva Shankar relates to Lord Shiva who is called ChandraSekhara – the Lord of the Moon.

7. ‘Ears filled with ornate speeches’ - A great Orator. He will point out the fallacies of the traditional practices of the religions, and will preach the hidden treasure of wisdom of all religions, in an easily understandable manner. (Chapter 15 – C.1, Q.96)

8. “The Soft voice of the sacred friend is heard under Holy ground – the Human Flame shines for the divine voice.” People would wait to hear his Golden words of Truth.
(Chapter 15 – C.4, Q.24)

Persons who are regular visitors to Samratchana will vouch for the fact that Sri Siva Shankar Baba is a great Orator who delivers impromptu speeches which invariably are simple to comprehend and understand.

9. He will preach the ‘New Religion’ and do away with the old judgmental faiths. A complete surrender to faith will ensure spiritual enlightenment in this new religion. His preaching would to abandon both the past and our obsession with the future, but to focus all our intelligence and energy on “NOW”. Enlightenment is ever now. We are free to live in the ‘NOW’ forever. (Chapter 15)

Sri Siva Shankar Baba is quite unconventional in his methods of preaching and does away with old traditional practices. He preaches and practices the art of living in the present for it is the present that is definite.

10. He will unite the religions with ‘The Mystic Rose’. ‘The Mystic Rose’ – It represents the fire of awareness, sunset of the old world and the dawning of the inner enlightenment.
(Chapter 15 – C.5, Q.96)

He will use unorthodox devices to stir people up, disturbing the status codes of social and religious behaviours in our materialistic times. (Chapter 15 – C.2, Q.29)

Sri Siva Shankar Baba does not differentiate between religions and maintains that all religions are one, and every person, irrespective of his religion, is an embodiment of God himself. He practices informal spirituality. His weapons are Love, Simplicity, Service and Laughter.

11. He has the power to transform and liberate the individual to the TRUTH. (Chapter 15 – C.2, Q.29)

Sri Siva Shankar Baba breathes pure Love and surely has the powers to liberate all the persons who approach him, to the Ultimate Truth.

12. He will travel far and wide in his drive to uplift the suffering humanity and to bring peace to the world. (Chapter 15 – C.2, Q.28)

Sri Siva Shankar Baba has been to various countries and has a large following in many countries, including The United States, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, The Gulf, Nepal, Tibet and China.

Above all, there are these lines: ‘The younger sage alone with his mind has seen it…..His body in the fire’ – a subtle reference to
(i) the death experience of Siva Shankar in 1984 leading to the manifestation of Baba
(ii) the revelation of divine forms in Fire shown to us by Baba’s compassion.

'Darkness comes to an end' - Swami Vivekananda

Swami Vivekananda said:

“Darkness will come to an end. A great Light from Madras will illuminate the world and make it a paradise. His presence will start getting known to the outside world during the nineties, more particularly, within the five years preceding 2000 A.D.”

The above authoritative statement made by Swami Vivekananda points out obviously to none other than Sri Siva Shankar Baba, the spiritual tempest that is centered at Chennai.

'Divine person comes to rescue' - Shri Kanchi Paramacharyar

In the year 1930, a foreigner, Paul Brunton asked Shri Kanchi Paramacharyar whether this world will ever become peaceful.

And Paramacharyar replied: “A great divinely inspired person will come to the rescue”.

Brunton further asked: “Do you expect anyone to arise in our time too?”

Paramacharya replied: “Yes, in our century. The need of the world is so great and spiritual darkness so thick that an inspired man of God will surely arise. He will bring out the latent Atman (God) in every man and transform this world into a heaven.”

Again, this prediction of Paramacharya about the inspired man of God who will arise has come true in the form of Sri Siva Shankar Baba. And it was Paramacharya who spoke of Baba as the Mahajyothi – the ultimate Light.

Excerpts from the book ‘The Complete Prophecies of the Immortal Seer Nostradamus’
By A.K.Sharma

So long expected shall never come,
Into Europe, In Asia shall appear,
One issued of the line of great Hermus
And shall be over all the kings of the Orient. - (C 10, Q.75)

Meaning: The prophet will belong to Siddha Loga (Hermus) and will hail from Asia. He will be the best of the prophets, the world has so far seen.

Siddha Yogi Sri Siva Shankar Baba, as the name suggests does belong to the Siddha Loga and, hails from India, a part of Asia.

The last but one, of the surname of the prophet,
Shall take Diana as his day of rest,
He shall wander far by reason of his raving head,
Deliver great people from impositions. - (C 10)

Meaning: The prophet will have a name related to the moon. He shall take Diana’s day i.e. Moon’s day (Monday) as his day of rest. He will travel far and wide aiming to uplift and enlighten human souls on this earth.

The name Siva Shankar relates to Lord Shiva who is called Chandrasekhara – The Lord of the Moon. The headquarters of Sri Siva Shankar Baba, named Samratchana (The Centre for Self Realization) has its weekly holiday on Monday. Baba has been to various countries and has a large following in most of the world and his only aim is to uplift all humanity to the ultimate truth i.e. Self Realization (Enlightenment).

From the aquatic triplicity shall be born,
One who shall make Thursday as his holy day,
His fame, praise, rule and power shall grow,
By land and sea to become a tempest to the east. - (C.10, Q.50)

Meaning: The new prophet will hail from a place where three seas meet and Thursday will be his holy day. His message shall spread throughout the world, like a tempest.

Sri Siva Shankar Baba hails from South India, where the three great oceans viz. The Arabian Sea, The Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean meet. His stars are ruled by Guru (Thursday) i.e. The lord of Jupiter, and hence he considers Thursday as his holy day.

The present time together with the past,
Shall be judged by a great jovialist - (C.10, Q.73)

Meaning: The new prophet will come with a power to give judgement to the souls of the present and past. He will carry out his work jovially.

Sri Siva Shankar Baba has a remarkably great sense of humour and carries out the mammoth task of bringing peace to this world, (by showering pure Love on everyone equally), with a very simple approach, passing timely jokes, that one cannot comprehend the depth of the work he is engaged in by just looking at him.

1999 – End of Kali Yuga - (Book by Dr. VedaVyas IAS, Ph.D., University of Vedic Sciences, 56, Road 8, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad 500034)

The book contains a detailed comparison of the prophecies of ancient palm manuscripts (Nadi’s) named “Kala Gnanam” by Veera Bramhendra Yogi; verses from “The Holy Bible” with appropriate explanations; the predictions of Nostradamus; The Bhavishya purana of the epic Mahabharatam and Bhagawatam of Rishi Vedavyas. The book concludes by saying that the general theme and predictions of all the above are remarkable in their similarity.

The relevant portion of the book is reproduced below with appropriate explanations which confirm that Sri Siva Shankar Baba is the Avatara that the various books say about and He is the Messiah the world has been waiting for.

“The Avatara of God who shall appear on this earth by the end of the 20th century, is clearly described as the God of Gods”

“Let there be no mistake, the real Avatara of God, Lord Kalki, is no religious Fakir or Sadhu or a Saffron clad recluse! In fact, he is not a religious person, but a world leader, a born Yogi with political insight and spiritual vision to create one humanity! This and this alone, should help us to identify the coming Avatara! But many will be his assistants or lieutenants who appear on earth in order to help or assist God’s purpose. Almost every saint who has attained god realization in the last five thousand years and who is waiting for the Great One will be reborn”

Siva Shankar Baba does not don the robes of a sanyasi – nor does he maintain any semblance of a saintly life. He talks and dresses like each and every one of his million devotees. His down to earth and worldly appearance forces even the most determined “Doubting Thomas” to strike an immediate rapport with him. He practices informal spirituality and his weapons are Simplicity, Love, and Laughter. His only mission being to uplift the humanity to realize the ultimate truth – The God Within. With this mission in mind, he has established “Samratchana” – The Centre for Self-Realization, and to this date, a lot of people have volunteered their services towards achieving his goal.

“Six great religions shall disappear and merge into one; in the twinkling of an eye the thoughts of the men shall be accomplished all over the globe”

It is obvious that Baba believes, preaches, and practices the same.

“And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates, twelve angels, the names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel. And they see his face; and his name shall be on their foreheads.” -Bible – Rev.22.4

“The followers of Lord Vishnu and Lord Siva have the custom of smearing ashes or ‘Namam’ or ‘Sri Charanam’ in 12 places of the Body including the forehead, as a mark of complete surrender to the Lord. The ‘Namam’ in reality represents Lord Vishnu himself.”

Skanda - Published by Golden Quest, P.O.Box 190, Lake Hill, Newyork 12448-0190

The book details the spiritual encounters between Lord Skanda and the author of the book by name Miss Hilda Charlton, a mystic teacher who was in this world and yet not of it. It is said in this book that she had visions of many perfected beings in the spiritual realm of the universe.

Sri Skanda showed Hilda HIS true form and was always with her, guiding and leading her to the ultimate truth – Enlightenment. It is seen from a comprehensive reading of the book that many statements made by Lord Skanda, go to assert that a messenger will come to earth very soon and will uplift the troubled souls to the inner enlightenment. This book brings about Miss Hilda’s experiences with and visions of Lord Skanda. The Golden words of Truth that Sri Skanda spoke are detailed in the book.

It is said in the book that Sri Skanda chose full moon days for his discourses, since the brilliant beams at the time of full moon, signify the reflection of truth, which influences us in a special way during that time, by making our intuition more sensitive.

Baba conducts special poojas on all full moon days at “Samratchana”, and emphasizes that people who attend these huge yagams and poojas performed by him, rise to greater levels in spirituality.

Sri Skanda further says that the Kali Yuga will recede and Sathya Yuga (Age of Truth), will dawn in the near future.

Baba has many a time said in his discourses that the present yuga of Kali is to end shortly (around the year 2002) and the Sathya Yuga i.e. the age of Truth shall dawn. Wisdom, understanding and Pure Uninhibited Love for all beings in this earth, must be the weapons to come through Kali Yuga unscathed.

Sri Skanda says to Miss Hilda on December, 18, 1983, that “the Western year, 1984 is about to begin. It is a crucial year, a harbinger of the darkness that is about to take place on Earth. Yet, on the horizon, where your vision must remain, is the LIGHT, to lead you on. The harmonizing vibrations of truth are those which you have sought for ages, nowhere will you find it. Just remain true to the light within and follow its path. Never despair or fear but keep the eyes on the LIGHT ahead.”

Sri Siva Shankar Baba realized his “Self – the inner light” in the year 1984, by the grace of Sri Raghavendra Swamy. Two years from then, Lord Skanda appeared before him and instructed him to carry out the mission of uplifting the humanity to the ultimate truth – God. Skanda further instructed him not to wear the robes of a sanyasi, not to accept anything in return for the services he does to the people, and not to renounce his worldly life. Skanda also assured him that his thoughts will materialize and his actions will turn out to be successful.

Sri Skanda, while instructing Hilda as to the rules of conduct she should observe to enable her to stay above the world and yet be of it, says, “Fear not, for I walk beside you. While in contemplation in times of need, if a peacock feather appears, know it is my signal, that my peacock and I, Skanda are near”.

Khilnaamakkarar

The following is a synopsis from the book titled ‘Khilnaamakkarar’, a famous prophecy written by Shri. Kreethathi Ananthat which also goes to point out Baba as the Messiah who would appear in Madras (Now, Chennai)

The new flame, the star of hope who is to light up the entire world from the existing darkness, will rise from the southern part of India, more particularly Chennai and spread throughout India. He will make true the words of Vivekananda – a massive spiritual force will originate from Chennai and take the world by the storm of its magnificent spiritual power. His presence will start getting known to the outside world during the nineties, more particularly, within the five years preceding 2000 A.D.

One of the 18 siddhars will incarnate in South India, captivate millions of hearts, make them think of him all the time in single minded concentration and will exist with perennial fame. He will bring the people of the entire universe into one fold by the power of his love and eradicate all that is evil and wicked in this world. (Gorakkar – Bogha Rishi’s disciple). His reign will have no boundaries of distance or time. He will decide how long to rule the universe.

He will bear a name representing the third phase of the moon (3 days after new moon day – Baba’s name is Siva Shankar – one who wears the moon as an ornament on his head). He will be a spiritual leader of the top order, serving as a role model to the world’s inhabitants, destroy the evils in the world. The divine grace of the Lord has been totally bestowed on this person whose sole mission will be to get rid of all the troubles in this world. He will reside in everyone’s hearts and rule the world, making it a divinely peaceful place. Popularity will pursue him unasked. In an age when perversions are all set to destroy the world, he will quell it with unbelievable ease, holding the world spellbound.

He will make the world understand that all religions are one, bring people belonging to various religions under one roof; the world will learn to live in absolute peace and righteousness, for he himself will serve as an example. At this point of time, Bogha Rishi will appear in person along with other Rishis to partake of this bliss. He will have a compassionate nature, tenderly guiding the world on the proper path.

Religious and spiritual leaders who had so long been quarrelling amongst themselves will bow down to this person’s superior knowledge; he will be a master of all Vedas and holy books of various religions; he will be filled with justice and integrity. He will be bold and outspoken in his mission to spread good in the world. Those who see him, talk to him, hear his kind voice addressing them, partake of food along with him are really blessed. The world will become one happy family under one single roof. He will make people comprehend that God exists within everyone through his preaching’s and practices. People will rush eagerly to serve his mission. Truth will triumph.

It is evident that the predictions make by the author clearly points to Sri Siva Shankar Baba as the Star of Hope who will light up this entire world from the existing darkness.

Book review on Khilnaamakkarar

A review on the book, “Khilnaamakkaarar” written by Shri. M. Kreethathi Ananthar that appeared in ‘The Hindu’ dated 12th March 1996;

“Stop the rot”! The commandment of a messiah who would soon emerge, probably from Madras, his face glowing with righteous indignation. All Self-seeking politicians with empty rhetoric, totally divorced from the real needs of the country, who are making democracy a mockery, will be awed into silence before this supreme force for good. The subverters of Hinduism will tremble before this avatar of true secularism based on the theory that one religion is as true as another.

As a leader who could rally all right thinking persons round him, the messiah will establish the golden age (Rama Rajya?) firmly in India to make a shining example: and the whole world will gasp in wonder at the marvelous transformation under the banner of this colossus among administrators. And all mystics, in full elixir of life, who were shut off from the wicked world for ages would stage a comeback to witness a resurgent Bharat.

Many should like living in a fool’s paradise, but the author quotes chapter and verses of an array of prophecies, all alike to end by contrast, with an optimistic note that there will be light at the end of tunnel of Kali yuga. One wonders whether there would be another Apollo (The god of the sun, prophecy, music medicine, archery, pastoral life and poetic imagination) as in Greek mythology to punish Python, the hideous monster now another name for the mushroom tribe of venal politicians.

The earliest of the prophecies could be traced back to the Puranic age where the die is cast. There were other prophets to follow suit from time to time. All gleanings that are either enshrined in stone and copper-plate inscriptions or passed on to the author by word of mouth reinforce the inevitable happenings during the most dreaded Yuga which is said to be fast tapering off. It is interesting to observe that the Prophecies of Vallalar, Swami Viviekananda and Pasumpon Muthuramalings Thevar are welded together to make a comprehensive whole. Pon Paramaguru, the author of Naan Kanda Siddhargal would do well to incorporate the prophecies attributed to Thevar Thirumagan to justify the inclusion of his name in that collection.

It is a well-known Psalm that “The righteous shall inherit the earth.” The author supplements it with several other passages from theology. Among the prophets, relevant to India, mentioned is the French astrologer and physician, Nostradamus (1503 – 66), whose predictions in the form of rhymed quatrains appeared in two collections (1555, 1558) cryptic and apocalyptic in tone, they were reportedly given extensive credence, at the French court where Nostradamus was for a time, the personal physician to Charles XI. Their interpretation has continued to be the subject of controversy into the 20th century.

The author makes a preposterous statement that the advance of science leading to the introduction of T.V. and Cable T.V. might well be taken as the harbinger of the messiah’s advent.

Note: Siva Shankar Baba’s TV programmes in Raj TV for 2 years and in Vijay TV and Sun TV have made him reach lakhs of people.

How far the prophecies covered in this book would hold water is anybody’s guess. Judged by the chain of events in the past and the present, one would be amazed at the devastating accuracy that characterized many a pronouncement. What harm is there, when instead of adding fuel to the flames, caused by the demolition of Babri Masjid, one ponders over Babar’s respect for the religious traditions of the Hindus graphically portrayed in this book. The author’s anxiety to promote Hindu-Muslim unity will be shared by all votaries of national integration.

New epochs, wrote A.N.Whitehead, emerge with comparative suddenness.

Who is that messiah to cause a strange chemistry and deliver the human race from evil?

One will have to wait and see whether the venerable Sri Siva Shankar Baba of Broadway, popularly called ‘Kadavul Mama’ (God uncle), a mystic of Olympian calm, who combines charm and authority and who comes close to the description, fits the bill.

Peace

“No God, No Peace;
Know God, Know Peace”

It is every human being’s desire to lead a more peaceful life on this earth. Peace of mind cannot be obtained by meditating in a forest or in a calm atmosphere. Neither is it necessary to renounce the worldly life to achieve this.

“Renunciation is neither adding anything nor leaving anything, but just leading the life that God has destined upon you, accepting joy and sorrow as it comes, with equanimity of mind, and by keeping your thoughts always pinned on to the Lotus feet of the Lord”.

However, unless there is a deep desire in the heart to achieve that everlasting peace, man will not be able to learn correctly from his experiences. He will infer wrong meanings and mark all actions as good or bad. But, if there is a deep desire within for peace, then he will soon learn from every small experience and continue correcting himself again and again till he achieves perfection in all his actions.

He will learn to love his work, love everything and will start seeing only positive things in life. Then he is the ‘Siddha’, a person in true search of Peace/Bliss/God.

Contentment and peacefulness are lacking in our society today. If these are attained, where is the necessity for God? In fact, Peacefulness, Contentment and Bliss are other names for God. A religious person might name it God, while a scientific person may call it as ‘Contentment’ or ‘Bliss’. There is really no difference between these terminologies.

When man knows what peace is, then he knows what God is. Or the other way, when he knows what God is, then he would have realized the peace within.

Love

“Love All, Love is All”

The age old religious traditions have given a feeling that God is some far away entity and almost always unreachable. Actually, God is not any person sitting on a throne. He is formless. It is a set of qualities (Godliness) that determine Him. The highest in Love, the highest in Ananda or Bliss and the highest in Intelligence – the combination of these is God. The sacrifice of Lord Jesus, the intelligence of Lord Krishna, the equanimity of mind of Lord Rama, the concern for humanity of Lord Buddha is what is to be learnt from their lives. If man develops all the above qualities or Godliness, he too can achieve that everlasting Bliss or Sachitananda.

Man should learn to love everything and everybody equally, with no bias and without any expectation. He should give unselfishly like the rain, wind, sun, moon.

If man learns to love everybody and everything, at all times, equally, and as much as he loves himself or his close kith and kin, then he knows God. If he has experienced true love on this earth, then he has seen and realized God. If he has, at any point of time, become extremely happy and thrilled with joy for some reason, then at time he has encountered God at close quarters. If he enjoys the bliss of contentment and peacefulness, at all times, and without any reason, then he experiences God.

Love is beyond all the bodily inhibitions and limitations. It is from within the heart and never without it. Love is another name of God and all beings are embodiments of the same Love. As the quantum of Love increases, man becomes more and more evolved and nears Godliness.

Contentment

Every human being’s problem in this world starts because he is not contented in his life, whatever be his status in society. This itself shows clearly that the problem exists only in his mind.

He doesn’t get contentment because he expects the course of his life to follow his dreams and aspirations, and when this does not happen he is filled with sorrow.

The real solution lies in just taking all that comes to him in life, as such, with equanimity of mind, without any expectation.

When the mind is not disturbed by the seemingly unending worries, attachments and unwanted information, then he has taken a sure step towards contentment. Now, if he fills his heart and mind with the everlasting bliss of the soul, his mind will lose its interest in all worldly activities and he will become much more contented.

When he further continues his daily routines with this contentment of mind, he becomes perfect in his actions, as he will have no expectations. Once, he reaches this stage, all ‘problems’ that appeared huge, start appearing insignificant.

Self Realization

A Man’s life is but a drama enacted on the stage called World. This is what some religions call as ‘Maya’ or ‘Unreal’. In this predetermined drama, all that man needs to do is to enact his part, whatever he it, effectively and sincerely. At no point of time, should the actions of others around him perturb him, as life is merely a drama.

When a man learns to smile at everything, knowing the true nature of life, he remains a silent observer of his own actions.

He now understands that it is God who is doing everything and he is only an instrument in His hand. He can then shower limitless love on all his fellow beings and truly become Selfless.

This is the stage, when he realizes the real Hidden Self within himself.

This ‘New Self’ is what is termed God and it this process that is known as ‘Self Realization’.

At this stage, an everlasting bliss envelopes him, and will be witnessed, not only by himself, but by everyone who gets to meet him, and he will be called a spiritual person. Everybody will start loving him, just at a single glance. Fate will yield supreme control to Him, and death will surrender unto Him.

This is verily ‘God Realization’. A self realized person thus understands that all beings have these qualities latent in them, but have not taken sincere enough efforts to understand and bring them out.

He also knows that, if they make a genuine attempt, they too will experience this Satchitananda (Bliss), and can become another God on earth.

It hardly matters whether one believes in God or one does not. Spirituality and Religion are only really a way of contented, peaceful and happy life. ‘Freedom’, Contentment’ and ‘Bliss’ are what are required. If one is filled with these, then he is termed ‘God’. And all this is achieved on the worldly platform itself in day to day life.
